About our saffron

Saffron is a cornerstone of the Persian cuisine. It is a spice that is collected from the flower Crocus Sativus (see the image below). The pistils of the flowers are picked by hand. To gather a kilogram of saffron you’d need around 150.000 Crocus Sativus flowers. This makes saffron an exclusive and valuable spice. Luckily small amount of saffron are more than enough to cook delicious dishes. If you use saffron in your kitchen occasionally you’d probably use around 10 grams of saffron a year. Saffron is also a controversial spice. There are many sellers in the market selling fake or low quality saffron for high prices. We cut out the middleman and buy our saffron directly from saffron farmers, ensuring honest prices for the farmers and a high quality for our saffron. We work with farmers based in Neyshabur in north eastern Iran. There are different types of Saffron. Our saffron is Super Negin saffron, one of the best types of saffron worldwide.
