Cooking with saffron
Saffron is a versatile spice with many possible applications in the kitchen. Famous dishes with saffron include Persian rice, Italian risotto and Spanish paella. Saffron can also be used to make tea. Saffron can be added to your dish in different ways. Our favorite technique is the use of a saffron solution. Crush the saffron, for instance by using a mortar and pestle. A few threads of saffron are often enough for a four person dish. Add hot water (just below boiling point) to the crushed saffron to let the saffron dissolve in the water. Leave the solution for 15 minutes, preferably with a lid. All the saffron will have dissolved now and you can add the solution to your dish.
